Art-O-Mat Vending Machine Art

I was accepted as an Artist in Cellophane artist.  My mini mixed media pieces will now be available in Art-O-Mat vending machines!  I posted earlier about this cool project which started out of Winston Salem, NC.

I've been busy this morning!   I have my first 25 pieces finished!  Look for them in a Art-O-Mat machine near you in the near future.  There are over 400 of these machines across the country.  Lots of them are in museums and coffee shops.

Painting is good for the soul!

I am so thankful to be on spring break this week!
I was in the studio last night and today and oh did it fill the soul!

I have two new mixed media paintings completed and I was accepted for the Art-O-Mat machines!  My box arrived with the blank blocks and acetate just a few minutes ago!  Can you tell by all the exclamation marks that I am over the moon excited about this artful adventure?

Annie Sloan: Orange!

If you have followed my blog, you know that I am a huge fan of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I have never been let down on a single project that I have used this paint and waxing technique on.

This was a habitat restore dresser for $75.  A little more than I usually pay for a furniture redo but I liked the size, that it had little short legs, and drawers that could be removed to house the tv components.  It was missing 4 handles and one drawer was missing a back (nothing husband couldn't fix).  I am pleased with the orange and dark wax!  I was looking to add a pop of color next to the blue walls.

All new handles! Husband did good!  It so much more rewarding to turn something old into something you really love for a fraction of the cost to purchase new.

Table reflects Early Spring

Early Spring colors:
The trees are still twiggy and brown,
the waxy leaves of the evergreens are still dark green,
the yellow daffodils are poking up through last falls leaves,
and the sky is a vivid blue as the sun shines with more energy.

Setting the sun porch table to reflect the view of my backyard!

Vending Machine Art

I am doing it!  I have completed my prototype for the Artist In Cellophane organization.  I am so excited at the possibility to be chosen as an artist to have mini art pieces placed in Art-O-Mat machines across the country.  If you do not know about these machines, they are recycled cigarette pack vending machines.  An artist out of Winston Salem, NC started these in 1997 and there are more than 400 active vending machines all across the country.  You put $5 dollars in, pull the handle, and "kerplunk"...an original piece of artwork is delivered in cellophane!  Each piece is 2 1/8 x 3 1/4 x 7/8 inches. The organization makes $2.50 and the artist makes $2.50 each time one is vended.  I'm not into for the money...I would probably do it for free...I just think it is totally cool!  Your prototype has to be approved, then you are asked to make a minimum of 50 individual pieces that will be placed in various machines.  There is no telling what state they may end up in.  I think thats one of the best parts.  What a great way to share your art!

This is the tag that will go
 above the knob on the
machine for my vending column.

My submission form and art piece is
ready for mailing!
